The 2005 Spanish Championship brought together the 60 most outstanding picadors of the moment, spread over a total of three afternoons in Las Ventas throughout the month of July.

The first semifinal was held against bulls from Antoni Rekagorri, and the following picadors advanced to the grand final: Fran from Santa Eugenia, Sergio Delgado from Chinchón, David Gascueña "El Chato" from Morata, César Palacios from Almazora, Rubén López from Hornillos, and Antonio Orejón from Perales de Tajuña.
